There’s something about Smith Rock State Park in Terrebonne, Oregon that makes every photo session feel magical. Recently, I had the absolute joy of photographing Anna and Artemis during a fun couples photoshoot at Smith Rock. Anna has been my trusted second shooter for years, capturing countless weddings and elopements alongside me. As a thank you for all of her incredible support, I wanted to celebrate her relationship with Artemis in one of Oregon’s most iconic landscapes.
Why Smith Rock is Perfect for a Couples Photoshoot
Smith Rock is one of Oregon’s treasures, with dramatic cliffs, winding trails, and panoramic views. The towering rock faces and rugged textures are perfect for a golden hour Oregon photoshoot. The light here just seems to hit differently, bouncing off the red and tan cliffs to create a warm, romantic glow.
Capturing the Golden Hour
Anna and Artemis’s couples session took place during golden hour, and the timing could not have been better. The sun put on a spectacular show with bright oranges and reds that seemed to set the entire park on fire. While there have been fires nearby recently, we were lucky it wasn’t too hazy that day. Instead, the sky looked painted with vibrant, fiery tones — the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable fun couples photoshoot at Smith Rock.

Why This Session Meant So Much
Working with Anna has been one of the best parts of my photography journey. She has an incredible eye, an amazing attitude, and always goes above and beyond for every couple. To see her in front of the camera with Artemis, laughing and enjoying every moment, was such a gift. We wandered around the trails, soaking up the view of the Crooked River below and letting the glowing sunset wrap them in warmth. These photos felt like a tribute to friendship, partnership, and the creative community that supports each other.
