Kaitlyn and Hunter’s January wedding at Green Villa Barn and Garden in Independence, Oregon, was a heartfelt celebration full of rustic charm, family emotion, and cozy winter romance. Set against the beautiful backdrop of one of my favorite venues, their day perfectly blended timeless tradition with country flair—even with the unpredictability of Oregon winter weather.
Winter Weddings in Oregon
Planning a winter wedding in the Pacific Northwest means being ready for just about anything—rain, sunshine, fog, or all three in the same hour! Having photographed several weddings at Green Villa, I know exactly where to go for beautiful, well-lit portraits even when we’re dodging rainclouds. From cozy barn corners to covered outdoor spots, there’s always a gorgeous plan B for portraits.
Kaitlyn mentioned she was hoping for clear skies but trusted me to capture the day beautifully, no matter what the forecast said. That trust—and the venue’s flexibility—meant we could focus on the moments and connection, rain or shine.
Photographed on Film and Digital
This wedding was photographed using a blend of digital and film photography. The film images in particular brought out a soft, classic elegance that matched the romantic and slightly vintage feel of the day. The tones, texture, and emotion of film added so much richness to their gallery.
One of my favorite parts? I gave Kaitlyn and her wedding group a film camera to use throughout the day—and the candid, guest-taken shots they captured added such a fun, behind-the-scenes element to the final gallery. It made the entire collection feel even more personal and story-driven.
A Sentimental Ceremony with Family at the Center
The ceremony was officiated by Kaitlyn’s uncle—making it feel extra personal. Three flower girls led the processional, and during the reception, both fathers gave heartfelt speeches that had nearly everyone in tears.
Kaitlyn and Hunter also shared a first look before the ceremony, giving them time to soak in the decor, exchange a few quiet words, and take in the moment before the celebration began. These peaceful pre-ceremony portraits are always some of my favorites.
Wedding Party Style & Attire
The wedding party outfits brought out the country elegance Kaitlyn and Hunter envisioned. The bridesmaids wore dark plum chiffon dresses with simple diamond jewelry and carried white floral bouquets filled with greenery, arranged by @blooms_of_grace.
The groomsmen embraced a rustic formal look with dark jeans, cowboy boots, white dress shirts, tan vests, black suit jackets, and black ties. Each wore pocket boutonnieres featuring white roses and greenery.
The Couple’s Wedding Day Look
Kaitlyn wore a gown from the Paige Young Collection, found at Merrime Bridal in Albany, Oregon. She paired it with earrings from TJ Maxx and her well-loved cowboy boots from Double H in Salem—adding just the right amount of personal flair.
Her engagement ring came from Jordan Jewelers, and her wedding band from Fred Meyer Jewelers. Hunter wore a mix of formal and Western style with a suit jacket, vest, shirt, and tie from Mr. Formal, paired with Ariat jeans and boots.

What the Bride Had to Say
Kaitlyn shared that planning started out feeling fun and even easy—but around two months before the big day, things got more stressful and fast-paced. “At that point, it was too late to change my mind on anything,” she joked. But she doesn’t regret it one bit.
“When I look back, I’ll have zero regrets compared to not planning this big and extravagant of a day,” she said. Her best advice for other couples? Stay organized!
Final Thoughts
From the emotional speeches to the cozy barn ambiance and vintage-style film photos, Kaitlyn and Hunter’s day was full of heart and personality. Their wedding proves that winter weddings in Oregon can be just as stunning and soulful as any summer celebration—especially when you embrace the season and trust your creative team.
