Some weddings feel like a celebration. Lexi and Mercer’s Aspen Hall wedding felt like a party thrown by two people who knew exactly what mattered to them — and then built the day around it.
They said “I do” on June 11, 2026, under warm Central Oregon skies at Aspen Hall in Bend. With ten wedding-party members on each side, meaningful family traditions, games, Greek dancing, a late-night corn dog bar, and a bubble exit, their wedding had personality from beginning to end.

But what I loved most was that none of those details felt like they were added simply to make the wedding different. They felt like Lexi and Mercer.
As an Oregon wedding photographer, those are the celebrations I love documenting most — weddings that leave enough room for beautiful photographs while still feeling like a real day being experienced with the people who matter.
Lexi & Mercer’s Aspen Hall Wedding at a Glance
Aspen Hall is tucked inside Shevlin Park, just a few miles from downtown Bend. The venue has a lodge-like interior with exposed beams and wood-framed windows, while the doors open to a patio, grassy lawn, towering pines, and Shevlin Pond.
For couples considering a wedding at Aspen Hall in Bend, Oregon, that combination is part of what makes the venue so appealing: you can have the comfort of an indoor reception space while still being surrounded by the landscape Central Oregon is known for.

Getting Ready for Their Bend Wedding
The morning started at an Airbnb in Deschutes River Woods, where Lexi got ready with her bridal party.
And this was not a tiny wedding party.
Lexi and Mercer had ten people on each side, so having a getting-ready location with enough space for everyone made a difference. The Airbnb even had an indoor pool, which gave the group plenty of room to settle in before the pace of the wedding day picked up.
When I help couples think through their wedding photography timeline, I encourage them to consider more than whether a getting-ready space looks pretty online. Natural light matters, but so do space, travel time, clutter, and whether everyone can comfortably be there without the morning feeling chaotic.
The goal is never to manufacture a perfectly styled morning. It is to create enough breathing room that the real moments have space to happen.

An Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Aspen Hall
From Deschutes River Woods, everyone made their way to Aspen Hall for the ceremony.
Located inside Shevlin Park, Aspen Hall feels removed from the bustle of Bend even though it is only about four miles from downtown. Towering pines, lawn, water, and the surrounding park create a distinctly Central Oregon setting without requiring guests to travel far outside the city.
Under warm June skies, Lexi and Mercer exchanged vows surrounded by the people they had chosen to be part of the day.
The setting was beautiful, of course. But a beautiful setting is only part of what makes a ceremony meaningful to photograph.
The reactions are what tell the story — the glances between family members, the wedding party trying not to cry, the laughter that catches everyone off guard, and the few seconds immediately after two people realize they are actually married.
Those are the moments I am watching for while the ceremony unfolds.

Wedding Portraits at Shevlin Park
After the ceremony, Lexi and Mercer stepped away for portraits elsewhere in Shevlin Park.
This is one of my favorite advantages of photographing an Aspen Hall wedding. Couples already have access to the natural beauty surrounding the venue, so portraits do not have to become a completely separate production involving a long drive and a large chunk of the wedding timeline.
For Lexi and Mercer, Shevlin Park gave us tall trees, warm June light, and a quieter space away from the energy of a twenty-person wedding party and a full reception.
It also gave them something couples sometimes do not realize they need until the wedding day arrives:
A few minutes alone together.
Wedding portraits can create that pause.
I guide when direction is helpful, but I also want couples to have room to talk, laugh, move, and actually experience being newly married. The photographs should be beautiful without making the wedding feel like an all-day photoshoot.

Why Aspen Hall Works Well for a Bend Wedding
Every wedding venue shapes the rhythm of a wedding day differently. From a photography and timeline perspective, Aspen Hall offers several advantages for couples who want a relaxed Central Oregon celebration.
A Central Oregon Setting Close to Downtown Bend
Aspen Hall is located inside Shevlin Park, approximately four miles from downtown Bend.
That gives couples the feeling of being surrounded by Central Oregon’s natural landscape while keeping restaurants, hotels, vacation rentals, and other Bend wedding-weekend activities relatively close for guests.
For couples bringing family and friends in from outside the area, that balance can make the logistics of a destination-style Oregon wedding considerably easier.
Indoor and Outdoor Spaces in One Location
The hall itself has exposed ceiling beams, wood-framed windows, a large fireplace, and a lodge-inspired feel. Outside, the venue opens onto a patio, grassy lawn, towering pines, and Shevlin Pond.
Having both indoor and outdoor areas gives couples options for how they want the wedding to flow from ceremony through dinner and dancing.
Aspen Hall currently accommodates events of up to 150 people, although I always recommend confirming current venue policies, capacity, rental inclusions, and restrictions directly with Bend Park & Recreation District when planning your wedding.
Portrait Locations Without a Long Drive
From a wedding photography perspective, having Shevlin Park surrounding the venue is especially valuable.
Instead of losing a large portion of cocktail hour driving across Bend for portraits, we can build portrait time into the natural rhythm of the wedding.
For couples who care about photography but also want to spend their wedding actually celebrating with their guests, that matters.

Room to Make the Wedding Feel Like You
Aspen Hall also gave Lexi and Mercer room to create a celebration that reflected their personalities rather than following a checklist of what weddings are “supposed” to look like.
And they absolutely took advantage of it.
A Reception Full of Personality
If the ceremony showed how much Lexi and Mercer care about their people, the reception showed just how much fun they wanted those people to have.
Alongside dinner, toasts, and dancing, guests had plenty to do throughout the evening.
- A full Greek dance followed by ouzo shots as part of a cherished family tradition
- Pop-a-shot basketball
- Custom cornhole boards for guests to play between trips to the dance floor
- A late-night corn dog bar from Central Oregon Corndog Co.
- An evening bubble exit to send the newlyweds off
I also learned there are apparently far more ways to top a corn dog than I ever realized.
Consider me converted.
What made the reception so memorable wasn’t any single detail, though. It was how naturally everything fit together.
The Greek dancing connected to family. The games gave guests something fun to do. The food was playful. The dance floor had energy.
Nothing felt as though it had been selected simply because someone said a wedding needed it.

Lexi’s Advice for Couples Planning Their Own Wedding
When I asked Lexi how she felt about planning the wedding, her answer made complete sense after seeing the day come together:
“Completely, freaking, obsessed! I am living my wedding planner dreams out, and I got to plan it like the once-in-a-lifetime event I wanted to make it.”
Her Advice to Couples Currently Planning
“Be really clear on the fact that this is YOUR day and YOUR experience. It’s easy for other voices to start creeping in, but keeping our vision front and center has made all the difference.”
That philosophy showed up everywhere.
The large wedding party. The family traditions. The basketball. The corn dogs. The people they surrounded themselves with.
Their wedding didn’t feel personal because they were trying to create a wedding unlike anyone else’s.
It felt personal because they kept choosing things that mattered to them.
Photographing an Aspen Hall Wedding
For couples planning an Aspen Hall wedding, one of my biggest photography recommendations is to leave a little breathing room in the timeline.
A beautiful location doesn’t mean you need hours of posed portraits.
With thoughtful planning around your ceremony time, family photographs, wedding-party portraits, and available light, it is possible to create beautiful images without disappearing from your own celebration.
That’s an important part of how I approach wedding photography throughout Oregon.
My work combines the documentary moments already happening with an editorial eye and guidance when it’s helpful. Some parts of a wedding need organization — twenty wedding-party members are a perfect example. Other moments need me to stop directing and simply pay attention.
Knowing the difference comes from experience.
Lexi and Mercer’s wedding was the perfect example of that balance: organize what needed organizing, make space for intentional portraits, and then let the party be the party.

What Lexi Had to Say About Her Wedding Photos
“We seriously could not be more grateful for how you captured this day. We are so obsessed with the photos.”
I release wedding galleries in sections rather than making my couples wait until every photograph is finished before seeing more of their day.
Lexi described one of my favorite side effects of that process:
“Everyone checks in on them. I’ll get texts from my sister and friends like, ‘Omg the ceremony photos are in the gallery!’ or ‘I fell asleep looking at wedding photos.’”
Then one of her bridesmaids gave what might be one of my favorite reviews of a wedding gallery:
“What the — they’re so good. I don’t even have words. I was there, and I’m like, how was it this beautiful?”
And finally:
“Our whole hallway is going to be a shrine to our wedding with these photos. We are in love.”
That’s the part that matters long after the timeline, weather forecast, seating chart, and planning decisions are gone.
You get to keep coming back to the people and moments that made the day yours.
